This program involves two days of classroom instruction.
DAY ONE - Attendees will be provided with binders containing templates, prompt sheets, instructions and standardized medical abbreviations. The presentation will cover billing for hospital E/M services and discharge day services, concurrent care and critical care. The program includes the guidelines for physician / resident billing (billing, coding and documentation).
DAY TWO - Involves medical record creation and organization for both hardcopy and EMR. You will be provided with a sample hardcopy medical record (chart), NCQA guidelines and Medicare Guidelines. There will be an EMR walk through which focuses on the overall record with special emphasis on the involvement of the doctor in providing data input, templates, macros and coding tools. You will learn how to develop templates and patient history forms that will work in an electronic format for both the physician and ancillary staff. Scanning data into an EMR will be addressed. Some EMR’s contain coding tools for determining the level of services which need some detailed discussion.
